A Time to Build in Hoke County

Overall Theme: It Takes the Whole Village to Build a 21st Century Community!
"Creating Community through Homeownership-Building From Within"

Overall Objective:
The overall objective of this event is to continue educating and providing outreach to the total Hoke County Community on the affordable housing initiative and efforts of the Blue Springs Community Development Corporation. A goal is to reach 50-100 community residents with a goal of securing 15-30 participants for the ongoing housing counseling program and pre-qualify them for homeownership. This event will bring together housing industry professionals and partners to include financial institutions, consumer counselors, developers, and community residents.

Event Character:
The character of this event will be that of a housing summit designed to address specific topics that will educate community residents on the nuts and bolts of homeownership and how it connects to developing community well being as well as develops personal wealth.

Activities:
An opening plenary, in the form of a panel discussion, will address and incorporate the underlined themes of the day focused on community development through homeownership. The panel will be comprised of industry professionals will communicate ideas and provide materials as well for the day. Four (4) 30-minute workshops will provide participants with additional information and insights. Participating residents interested in becoming first-time homebuyers will be encouraged to register for ongoing counseling services toward becoming homeowners in Hoke County as part of the Blue Springs CDC housing development initiative.
